Steps for Building a Better you.
1) Believe in yourself...love yourself...only YOU know what is best for YOU.
2) Have clear goals but don't forget to enjoy the present.
3) Don't be afraid to take risks. Learn from failures, don't dwell on them. Be Prepared to reevaluate your goals.
4) Sell yourself by smiling, being positive and respectful.
5) If you are feeling stressed, eliminate the easy ones first.
6) Take ownership for your successes and failures. Make no excuses.
7) Be a good communicator by being a good listener.
8) Contribute as much as you can afford to your 401K or retirement plan.
9) Pay yourself first. Make sure some amount of your earnings is set aside for savings/investing.
10) Don't accumulate more debt than you can afford. Credit cards should always be paid off each month!
11) Security for all accounts should be managed each week. Check credit cards, bank accounts, and investments for breaches
12) Have adequate insurance...no insurance or being under insured can ruin your financial goals.

Application Form and Process
Dear Educators,
As promised last week, this email will provide you all the information and documentation necessary to help your student/s apply for the W!se Financial Literacy Ambassador Award. This is a $2,000 monetary award that will be distributed to two students ($1,000 each) who earned at least a 95% on our Financial Literacy Certification assessment during the Summer of 2018, Fall of 2018, or Spring of 2019.
The award is made possible through the sponsorship of Financial Literacy Outreach (FLO) Mentors, a group of W!se volunteers who are passionate about helping young people improve their knowledge of personal finance. We are truly grateful to FLO Mentors for this generous sponsorship.
HOW:
To be considered for the Award, students must…
1. Complete an application (see attached Application Form).
2. Submit an essay of 500 words or less.
3. Submit a letter of recommendation.
4. Agree, if selected for an Award, to complete a short W!se survey once a year for three consecutive years after the Award is made.
5. Agree, if selected for an award, to submit a headshot photograph and agree to the use of his or her name and image in W!se publications, a press release and public relation materials, (if this stipulation is an issue, please let us know by calling Mr. David Anderson at 212-421-2700).

APPLY TODAY! The award is made possible through the sponsorship of Financial Literacy Outreach (FLO) Mentors, a group of W!se volunteers who are passionate about helping young people improve their knowledge of personal finance. We are truly grateful to FLO Mentors for this generous sponsorship. Eligibility Financial Literacy Ambassadors Award applicants must be a student (grades 9-12) who 1. Scored at least 95% on the W!se Financial Literacy Certification Test while enrolled in a high school registered in the Financial Literacy Certification program and 2. Took the W!se Financial Literacy Certification test in the Summer of 2018, Fall of 2018, or Spring of 2019. Applications Requirements To be considered for the Award, applicants must: 1. Complete an application form. 2. Write an essay in 500 words or less which describes and explains: a. What lessons I learned from studying personal finance in high school and how I will apply these lessons throughout my life (250 words maximum). b. How will I create awareness about and advocate for Financial Literacy in my community if I receive the FL Ambassadors Award (250 words maximum). 3. Submit a letter of recommendation written by a school official, an employer or mentor (or equivalent role model). Author needs to disclose relationship with applicant and provide phone number and email address. The letter CANNOT be written by a family member or friend. 4. Agree, if selected for an Award, to complete a short W!se survey once a year for three consecutive years after the Award is made. 5. Agree, if selected for an award, to submit a headshot photograph and agree to the use of his or her name and image in wise publications, a press release and public relation materials.
